HDD Not Recognized by PS3 - Is there any Way to Sort Out this Error Message?

Home > Frequently Asked Questions > HDD not recognized by ps3 is there any way to sort out this error message

Recently I bought a WD3200BEVT 320GB 7200 RPM hard drive to put it in my PS3. I removed the old HDD out of PS3 and transferred the whole data into a new one. But, when I turned it on it keeps on displaying the message that Cannot Start, HDD not recognized by PS3.

So, is there any way out for this?

Well the HDD you got will work with PS3 but there are chances that it might get heat up in future. Anyhow you need to follow some things which are as follows;

  1. First of all you should transfer all of the data from your old HDD to a new one before putting it out of PS3, but not after that because, PS3 will not recognize the backed up data that has been transferred through an Ethernet cable.
  2. Now, take the old one out and insert back the new one.
  3. Install the new HDD correctly into the port. Otherwise it will again show up the message that HDD not recognized.
  4. Restart your PS3 and here you go with your new HDD.

Still if that didn't work, your hard disk might be having some errors or faults. So in order to make yourself completely satisfied you can call our support at 1.800.347.5377.
