While installing the Windows XP, I am unable to find the option of formatting and hence cannot format a hard drive. However I selected the New Installation option, but it seems that I would have to rewrite it over the previous installation. While re-installing the operating system, an error was displayed "C:\windows\system32\tools\delfolders.exe cannot be found". Additionally, by clicking on the drive C in My Computer, clicking File and then selecting Format also displays that "Windows can't format the drive, please close the utilities and then try again". Please suggest me any solution to resolve this issue.
In order to deal with this scenario, go to BIOS set-up menu and set the boot order as follows.
1st– CD ROM
2nd – Floppy
3rd – Hard Drive
Save the settings before you choose Exit.
Place the operating system CD into the CD ROM and let it boot. When the option appears, let it format to NTFS File System before you start to install.
Hopefully, this would resolve the issue of formatting but if the problem still persists;
