My LaCie Hard Drive is not getting Recognized – What to do?

Home > Frequently Asked Questions > My LaCie Hard Drive is not getting Recognized – What to do?

Day by day I am getting more and more frustrated because My LaCie hard drive is not getting recognized in windows explorer but that is displayed in control panel. So any advices in regards to this will be appreciated a lot?

Well it is highly advised to see whether the drive is showing up in the Disk Management or not, following are the steps to do so:

  1. Click Start , choose Control Panel, and select System and Security, then Administrative Tools and lastly selecting the Computer Management.
  2. Click on Disk Management which is located in the left pane.

    Well if the drive is recognized in the disk management without any name then it is recommended to assign it a name by right-clicking it. To analyze whether it helped or not;

    1. Right-click on the desired disk and select the Change Drive Letter and Path option from the menu.
    2. Assign a letter or name and click Add, now click on the letter you want to assign and click Ok.
    3. Else you can change the letter or name (in case if it is already assigned), click Assign the following drive letter, now choose the desired letter and click Ok.
    4. Or if you want to remove the drive letter, click on Remove and then click Yes to confirm it.
