I use HP pavilion; recently my computer crashed due to some unknown problem. I also had some documents and a picture’s folder on desktop. When my computer crashed I was not able to access my desktop so I simply backed up my files on 3 DVDs using HP Recovery Manager. After that I tried to perform System Restore but it didn’t work. Now I am unable to access my documents or pictures folder after backing up. Moreover, these files come in .fbw extension and I cannot open them. How to get that data back? Please instruct me regarding the problem.
Almost all HP Backup users face the same problem with using the HP Recovery Restore Utility.
- Create a folder in the root folder of your drive C with a name like “My Recovered Files”.
- Copy you recovery files off your DVDs to the folder recently made in drive C.
- Go to the location (C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Local\) and remove both RestoreWiz.lgg and RestoreWiz.smf.
- Now open your computer and open local Disk and after that find System Recovery files and do delete it.
-
Now open the .exe file in your backup folder.
- Select same type of file at one time to restore.
- Now click on the first file name on the set of file names and Restorewiz will be start. and wait for the progress bar to finish. The progress may take time. Don’t cancel the progess; in case you cancelled, you will start again from step2.
Alternative method:
- You may download a .fbw file extension reader.
- You may find online about the recovery of files from files with .fbw extensions.
