I had Seagate barracuda that I had used for two months. I got an error code like “code 6C9AC2A4” It was in warranty and I sent it to Seagate with 20$ shipping to get another hard drive. However, I got another faulty certified 1 TB HDD hard drive from Seagate and I got the same problem again. What I have to do in situations like that? I have already spent my 20$ for shipping and will need to consume 20$ more to send the new hard drive again to Seagate to get another drive.
Well, the code error (code 6C9AC2A4) actually means that Serial number is not found.
However, Seagate products are not awful since they have a unique place in the market as well as their products are known for reliability and performance. Try some third party software like SeaTools to find the problem and if you cannot send it to Seagate then you can send your product to renowned professionals like Disk Doctors. They have been serving their professional services from more than 20 years and accept any physical or logical problem relevant to any storage device.
However, nowadays you can find a lot of hard drives online with specifications mentioned and you can check them in details. Now it depends upon you that which hard drive is your choice. However, besides Seagate you can also rely on manufacturers like WD, Maxtor, and Hitachi etc.
